May you who read the words contained in this document grasp the cardinal virtues of temperance, prudence, justice and fortitude. Place them in the cauldron of hope, faith and charity. Your Spring, Summer and Fall will come and go. These seven Virtues will sustain you. Your winter will be splendid.

- William David Tatum, Founder
The Unclegoose Society

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious Triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to Rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much Nor suffer much, because they live in that grey Twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."

- Theodore Roosevelt
President of the United States

BE NOT AFRAID!

The  Unclegoose Society was established to distribute twenty William "To be of service to others" Watches at Middle & High Schools around the Globe.

William David Tatum is a graduate (1952) of Boston English High School, est. 1821 - the oldest public high school in America.

William Tatum was a member of the victorious American Championship Two Mile Relay Team at the Penn Relays of 1952.

The Boston Globe Newspaper Article of October 24, 1950 is on the website confirming his victory over 41 runners at the annual 2 l/2 mile cross country race between greater Boston High Schools.

The nickname "Goose" came into existence at that time for the first prize was a Peking duck.

In the year 1990, while in Europe, William Tatum sent a letter to B.E.H.S. entitled 'The Goose Is To Return To Boston This Year - 1990! The letter relates  how and why William Tatum defeated 41 other runners in that cross country race, some juniors and seniors .William was a sophomore.

Upon visiting B.E.H.S. in 1992, the Headmaster and Staff took William to see The HalI of Fame on the second floor of the building. Three men are placed there. The first photograph is of J. P. Morgan with a letter. The second letter is from General Mathew Ridgeway, Far Eastern Commander during the Korean War. Lo and behold! William saw the framed Boston Globe Newspaper Article of October 24, 1950 with the three - page letter he had sent to the school in 1990!

William immediately sensed that given that his letter of 1990 ended with the words that his life's work would be CHARITY, he would become the philanthropist. The first image was of an industrialist, the second of a soldier.

During the many years of reading books and documents, William Tatum has compiled a list of reflections by men and women who have attained greatness in their need to serve others.

Western Civilization has produced many historical crises' that have brought forth the leadership and the ideas needed to deal with them. For that credit should be placed with our republican form of government. The debt is owed to the founding fathers that fully comprehended the unique history that had been bequeathed to them. Irrespective of unresolved conundrums of a political, economic or social nature, they gave us documents of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that must become eternal!

Maimonides, the great Jewish scholar ,who lived in Spain many centuries ago who with our Muslim brothers and sisters contributed deeply and profoundly through their cooperate translations of key documents of history causing the Enlightenment to come into existence in Europe.The Renaissance followed. Maimonides made dear that each generation must PUBLISH, READ AND DISCUSS what made Western civilization so unique amongst all civilizations that had come into existence.

All students selected by their Headmaster/Principal & Staff who join the Unclegoose Society will receive a FREE William 'to be of service to others' Watch. They will also receive the Uncle Goose Mission Statement. Their children and their children's children will read the Uncle Goose Mission Statement and be sustained in their trials and tribulations intrinsic to the human condition.

The general public will purchase the William 'to be of service to others' Watch $100.00 to include shipping and handling -

The vision is sure. The public square i.e. e. all Americans who learn of the Mission Sltatemenl may purchase the William 'to be of service to others' Watch thereby contributing lo the Scholarship Funds being established at middle and senior high schools.

Ireland, France, England, Scotland & Africa will in time have the Unclegoose Society established at their equivalent high schools.

William Tatum is fond of saying that he is in the Winter of his life. He has had a wonderful Spring, Summer and Fall. Now the winter has arrived. The knowledge that this life was not in vain but served a purpose of service to others - the greatest freedom of all!
